Landscape Laborers

Perform manual labor to landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Install sod, mow, trim, mulch, spread, dig, shovel, blow, edge, and haul. Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws. Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge and brush trimmers, and axes. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Mow and edge/trim lawns using power mowers and edgers. Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls. Water lawns, trees, and plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans. Use irrigation methods to adjust the amount of water consumption and to prevent waste. Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers and foliage. Plant and cultivate lawns and gardens. Haul or spread topsoil, and spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place. Trim and pick flowers and clean flower beds. Decorate gardens with stones and plants. Install rock gardens by using wheelbarrows to transport rocks from the truck to the rock garden area. Dump the rocks and then spread them out with a landscape rake or hands.
