Laborer

Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: shovels, wheelbarrows, cement mixers, measuring equipment and a variety of other equipment and instruments such as hammers, sledgehammers, shovels, concrete finishing floats, brooms for finished concrete and other basic hand tools typically used in standard construction labor (e.g., hand trowels, rakes, tampers, utility knives) used in excavation, concrete, and site work construction. Pour concrete into forms. Carry, hold, position and remove forms from concrete using saws, hammers, nails or bolts. Grade land; manual grading and leveling of small areas in preparation for concrete placement. This work involves the use of basic hand tools such as: shovels, grading rakes and the additional hand tools (e.g., hammers, sledgehammers, concrete finishing floats, brooms). Workers create a level subgrade by manually placing and shaping a compactable stone-and-fines mixture to establish a stable base for concrete. May clean and prepare sites and clean up rubble, debris and other waste materials. Assist other craft workers. Load/unload equipment from trucks. Entry level; requires supervision.
