Climbers use climbing hooks and belts to gain access to work areas. Climbers use power saws and pruners to cut away dead or excess branches from trees or shrubs to improve tree health. This occupation requires a high-school diploma and six months related work experience. One month of paid on-the-job training gets any hires up to speed so they can identify tree species and climbing risks, and also safely utilize tools.
