Construction laborer

Crew members install and maintain sports netting systems, including golf barrier nets. Duties include setting poles, installing and tensioning frame cables, and attaching and securing net panels at various heights using lifts and hand tools. The equipment required consists of manlifts, telehandlers and skid steers. Ace installs both wood and steel poles. For wood poles these poles can be up to 100 feet in length. For steel poles, Ace installs poles up to heights of 175 feet. These larger steel poles would be for commercial golf facilities. These poles are installed in four sections with the larger sections being at the base of the pole and smaller sections at the top of the pole. The larger sections of the poles can be up to 42 inches in diameter at the base section and weigh up to 17,000 lbs. Poles sometimes require modification in the field and workers use magnetic drills, torches and electric saws to make modifications in the field. Skid steers and drilling rigs are used to drill holes for the poles. Ace workers use the skid steer for holes less than 15 feet and subcontract drilling that is deeper than 15 feet. For wooden poles the holes are filled with the dirt from drilling and gravel. For steel poles, poles are encased in concrete. Manlifts are used to run cables and hang nets. To run cables, Ace workers custom fit attachments to the poles where they run the cable through. The custom fittings can vary depending on the specifications of the customer Ace is working for. C
