HELPER-CONSTRUCTION TRADES

** The worker assists with the placement of reinforcing steel, rebar, and wire mesh used in concrete construction projects. Specific tasks include carrying, unloading, staging, sorting, positioning, and placing rebar and wire mesh within forms and excavated areas; holding materials in place while experienced workers secure them; measuring and aligning reinforcing materials according to layout instructions; and assisting with tying reinforcing steel using pre-cut tie wire. Tools and equipment used include rebar tying tools, pliers, wire cutters, measuring tapes, levels, rebar chairs, spacers, wheelbarrows, material carts, and hand tools commonly used to position reinforcing materials. Materials handled include reinforcing steel bars (rebar), welded wire mesh, tie wire, rebar chairs, spacers, and related concrete reinforcement materials. ** The worker assists experienced construction workers, concrete finishers, equipment operators, and supervisors engaged in the installation of swimming pools, driveways, sidewalks, patios, walkways, and related concrete structures. The worker may operate plate compactors, concrete mixers, power wheelbarrows, material carts, water pumps, pressure washers, portable generators, small power tools (drills, grinders, routers), shovels, rakes, brooms, wheelbarrows, buckets, tampers, hand floats, measuring tapes, and levels.
